This cairn was erected and the bell installed to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Riverton Primary School which was opened on 25th October, 1866

It also records the closing of several small schools in the District and their amalgamation with the Riverton Primary School :

This plaque was unveiled on the 25th October, 1986 by Quentin J. Hornhardt B, Ed., Dip. T.
