The building commemorates 50 years of Lions Clubs` service in Australia.
Lions Clubs International, a service membership organization of over 1.4 million members world-wide (as of April 2015), was founded in the United States on June 7, 1917, by Melvin Jones a Chicago businessman. The organization became international on 12 March 1920, when the first club in Canada was established in Windsor, Ontario. The organisation was founded in Australia in 1947.
