The tree commemorates the inaugural visit of H.M.A.S Gawler.
H.M.A.S Gawler (FCPB 212), named for the town of Gawler, was a Fremantle class patrol boat of the Royal Australian Navy (R.A.N.). She was launched on 9 July 1983, and commissioned into the R.A.N. on 27 August 1983.
