The garden commemorates all those children buried in unmarked graves within the West Terrace Cemetery. It is named in honour of Caroline Clark, the 19th century philanthropist and children's rights campaigner.
A plaque was placed in the garden in July 2015 listing the names of some of those children who were buried in unmarked graves in the cemetery.

Plaque :
From the mid-1800s onwards many children were committed to the care of the State as neglected or destitute and placed in institutions or foster care.
Many of those who died while in care were buried in unmarked graves in this cemetery.
The names listed below have been identified through researching surviving records.
They represent hundreds of other unnamed children for whom no records can be found.
This plaque was laid in loving memory of all these children.
