The plaque commemorates the opening of Crystal Brook RSL building in October 1952.
CRYSTAL BROOK Oct. 11
Congratulating members of the Crystal Brook branch of the RSL on four years' conscientious effort in erecting a clubroom by voluntary labor, the Premier (Mr. Playford) today laid the foundation stone and opened the hall. An appeal by the sub branch president (Mr. A. G. Head) for money to purchase furnishings for the new clubroom brought £1,100. Mr. H. Dunsford presented a chair to the club on behalf of his family. Nearly 200 ex-servicemen and many schoolchildren took part in a march through the town, before the official ceremony, which was attended by 500 people.
The Premier was welcomed by the sub-branch president (Mr. A. G. Head), who outlined how the building had progressed. Representing the State executive of the Returned Servicemen's League, Mr. Wilson, MLC presented Mr. T. W. Sedgman with a framed sub-branch life membership certificate. For his voluntary services to the sub-branch, a presentation was made to Mr. F. N. Young by the Premier. The function concluded with a social in the new clubroom at night.
