Kokoda MemorialPrint Page
The Kokoda Memorial commemorates the members of the 3rd Militia Battalion who were called up and sent to fight in the Owen Stanleys and Beach Heads at Gona. The 3rd Militia Battalion was the longest serving Battalion in the Kokoda campaign.

A tribute to fallen comrades, those who served and suffered, they bled to keep Australia free.
Remember Australian soldiers of all Battalions and Units, PIB, Papua New Guineans and civilians who served in the area.
Unveiled on the 49th anniversary of the raising of the Australian Flag at Kokoda by Merv Shea of Yass (3rd Battalion) on 2nd November 1942.
Kokoda Day - A symbol of freedom, tenacity and dedication.

Bob Goldy witnessed the raising of the Australian Flag at Kokoda with members of D. Coy 3rd Bn.
When Bob was placed to rest at Moonbah 5:11:90
His nephew George Barry envisaged a Diggers hat on a rock as a memorial to Bob and his mates.
With the help of Tim & Terry Golby & Neen Prendergast, this is a tribute of love & dedication.
