The "Kokoda Trail" walking track commemorates the Australians who served in the Kokoda Campaign, New Guinea, 1942. Along the trail are seven white metal plaques affixed to metal supports detailing places and events of the Kokoda Track in New Guinea.
The Kokoda Track campaign or Kokoda Trail campaign was part of the Pacific War of World War Two. The campaign consisted of a series of battles fought between July and November 1942 between Japanese and Allied - primarily Australian - forces in what was then the Australian territories of Papua and New Guinea.
