The Avenue of Honour commemorates those from the district who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two.

On Tuesday afternoon a Tree Planting Ceremony was performed in South Clare between Paxton and Horton (sic) Streets arranged by Clare Corporation and Clare R.S.L. Twelve Celtis and 13 Caucasian Ash were planted. Those present included the Mayor and all Councillors (except Cr. G. Pink, apology) and the President of RSL, Mr. N. Gibson and Mrs. Gibson and Mr. F. Standish. All present planting trees as a Coronation Year gesture and to the Memory of the fallen of World War II.
