Source: MAIn memory of all who served in 2 / 8th Australian Armoured Regiment AIF
Formed in 1941, the Regiment served in Papua New Guinea from 1943 to 1944, at Milne Bay, Port Moresby and Dobodura.
The unit was disbanded in June 1944 and its members transferred to 41st, 42nd and 43rd lnding Craft Companies RAE
From 1944 to 1945, these units served in New Guinea, Bougainville and New Britain
