The fence commemorates Eric and Ron Burton and all Methodists from Millthorpe who served in World War Two.
Royal Australian Navy Petty Officer Eric Samuel Burton, Service Number 20191, was lost aboard H.M.A.S. Perth during the Battle of Sunda Strait, on 1st March 1942.
His brother, Royal Australian Air Force Sergeant Ronald Garnet Burton, Service Number 403856, was killed in action over Germany on 7th June 1942. They were the sons of William and Ann Clara Frances Burton of Millthorpe.
