Kaimkillenbun War Memorial Print Page
The monument commemorates those who served in World War One, World War Two and the Vietnam War.
The original digger memorial was an Australian soldier in dress uniform standing at ease and was unveiled by W. J. Vowles, Leader of the Opposition on 13th November 1920 to commemorate those who served in World War One.
After the original war memorial was knocked over in a traffic accident, the monument was replaced by a similar one in the local park behind the hotel. It features an Australian digger in dress uniform standing at ease. His rifle points skyward and a tree stump behind his right leg provides supports. The original mason was R. C. Ziegler, and using original plans, the replacement digger was also prepared by Zieglers.
