The park was developed during the 'Australia Remembers' commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the end of World War Two.
The park was designed to allow the insertion of plaques commemorating those who served, and also has a commemorative sundial.
"Australia Remembers, 1945-1995" was a program of activities organised by the Federal Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
