Penguin Memorial LibraryPrint Page
The Library commemorates those from the Municipality who served in World War Two.
Work has begun and good progress is being made on the construction of a new war memorial at Penguin. Like many other similar projects on the N.W. Coast, it will follow the pattern designed to provide a useful amenity for residents of the area. The new building which will be a decided acquisition to the town, comprises a concrete brick library and rest room. The structure is being built by Mr. J. C. Hales, a Penguin contractor. The design was prepared by Mr. A. A. Freak, of Devonport. Efforts are being made to have the building ready for use by Armistice Day on November 11 this year.
Advocate (Burnie), 28th April 1954.
