Hamilton War Memorial PavilionPrint Page
The pavilion commemorates the residents of the Hamilton District who served in World War Two. A plaque on the pavilion lists 8 names of those who lost their lives in World War Two.
Plans for a war memorial pavilion on the recreation ground at Hamilton were tabled at the Hamilton Council meeting yesterday. The proposed pavilion will accommodate 800 people and is expected to cost £4,500. It was decided to hold a meeting to consider a recommendation from a sub-committee to go ahead with the building of the pavilion.
It was reported that the council architect had recommended the use of stone from the old gaol and from an old brewery building at Hamilton for the construction of new council chambers. It was thought that the stonework would blend with the wellpreserved stonework of the town hall building.
