The monument commemorates members of the 2nd / 28th Infantry Battalion and the 24th Anti-Tank Regiment who died in service or were killed in action during World War Two.

It lists the cemeteries where the members of these units are buried.

it is a cast metal depiction of the eternal flame.  The flame stands on three tiers, each tier bearing brass plates of the names of campaigns in which these two units participated.
