The plaque commemorates fourteen soldiers of the 4th Infantry Battalion who were killed on March 15th 1943 when a mortar shell they were examining exploded.

1945 -1995

In memory of fourteen soldiers of the 4th Australian Infantry Battalion killed on 15th March 1943 at a location approximately 100 metres SSE of this plaque. The fourteen soldiers were kill when a mortar bomb, being closely examined by the group, exploded, killing all.

The funeral took place at Moora Cemetery on 16th March, 1943.
The bodies were transferred to Karrakatta Cemetery after the cessation of the war
