The sculpture of World War Two soldier fixed on natural stone with three bronze plaques commemorates those fom the Mallee District who served in World War Two.

It is believed that the design of the sculpture is meant to depict Private Leslie Starcevich who was awarded the Victoria Cross during World War Two and was a Bren gunner in his Battalion.
