War Memorial Grove
The area from the Post Office to the subway was set aside after the First World War as a memorial to the people who gave their lives in that war.
These Kurrajong trees (Brachychiton populneus) were planted in October 1943 and dedicated to those who lost their lives during World War 2.
It is known as War Memorial Grove and has plaques at the base of the trees in memory of the men from the Peterborough area who were killed in action from 1939 - 1945
This plaque was made possible due to the generous sponsorship of the Peterborough RSL
