Trees of TributePrint Page
The Trees of Tribute commemorate those who enlisted in World War Two. A plaque was placed at the site in 1994.
The secretary of the National Tree Planting Council of South Australia (Mr. H.J. Kemp) said yesterday that the response to the tree campaign recently launched among country councils had been encouraging. As trees were being planted as a tribute to members of the A.I.F., it was urged that a plaque should be placed on each tree, he added. Because of the lack of supplies of non ferrous metals and the high cost of slate for these, it is suggested that temporary plaques should be placed on the trees until supplies ol metal become again available.
Councils which have planted trees include Port Macdonnell 45: Snowtown. Paringa. 28: Lyrup. 20: Lameroo. 21: Yankalilla. 10: Kimba. 50: Cleve. 40: Loxton. 100: Brown's Well. 30: Burra 150: Kadina 100: Port Elliott 100.
