The gate at the entrance to the school contains plaques that commemorate former students of the school who died in service or were killed in action during World War Two. New plaques have been placed on the gates and the original plaques are held inside the school.

The gates were rededicated in 2005 in acknowledgement of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
