The plaque, mounted on a plinth, commemorates the 40 Barraba men of the 8th Division killed in action or taken prisoner during World War Two.
Barraba had the unique and tragic distinction of having the highest rate per population of Australian Prisoners of War in any theatre of war during World War Two.
