Avro Anson Crash MemorialPrint Page 
The monument commemorates four Royal Australian Air Force crew members who were killed when their aircraft crashed during a night navigational training flight in September 1943.
Those killed were Flying Officer Lawrence Flynn, Pilot Officer Albert Rapp, Sergeant Ronald Obst and Sergeant John Bowman who were members of No. 2 Air Navigation School.

AVRON ANSON CRASH MEMORIAL
At 11:30pm September 24th 1943 during WWII
an R. A. A. F. Avro Anson aircraft crashed on a training flight
at 34 deg 27 min S, 140 deg 48 min E,
on the property of H. G. I. "Harry" Edwards
Section 128 Hundred Gordon 21.5 km east of Loxton.
Four young airmen died as a result of the accident :
Sgt. J. V. BOWMAN, Cottesloe WA, Pilot
Sgt. R. OBST, Berri SA, Wireless Air Gunner
F. O. A. FLYNN, Canberra ACT, Navigation Training
P. O. A. N. RAPP, Middle Park VIC, Navigation Training
