Eighth DivisionPrint Page
The stained glass window commemorates the Eighth Division A.I.F. which served in Malaya during World War Two. The window was the gift of Mr and Mrs Les Clark whose son Sergeant John Marcus Clark lost his life while serving with the 8th Division in Malaya.
Four memorial stained glass windows in Holy Trinity Church of England, Dubbo, will be unveiled by Lieut.-General Gordon Bennett, at a service in the Church next Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, and will be dedicated by the Rector, Rev. Canon C. W. Leavers. For the ceremony, the General will wear full uniform. The Rector will gladly welcome any returned personnel, especially ex-prisoners of war, preferably in uniform and decorations. Special seating accommodation will be set aside for them, and also for the relatives of those who made the supreme sacrifice. A special souvenir form of service has been printed for the occasion, and extra seating accommodation will be placed in the Church.
Two very beautiful windows the gift of Mr. and Mrs. Les Clark, of "Dulciedene", Dubbo, "In honor of their son, Sergeant John Marcus Clark, 2/15th Field Regiment, Eighth Division, A.I.F., Malaya," - who gave his life on the fields of service; and also "In honor of the Eighth Division, Malaya, 1945." The other two windows, representing Justice and Peace, are the gift of the parishioners of Holy Trinity as a "Thank-offering for Peace, 15th August, 1945." Lieut.-General Bennett will be accompanied by Mrs. Bennett, and during their stay in Dubbo they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clark, of "Dulciedene." The Rector especially desires widespread publication of this notable unveiling and dedication service.
