The honour roll commemorates those from the District who served in World War Two.
The unveiling of the York and District Honor Board will place at the Town Halll Sunday afternoon (December 9) commencing at 3 o'clock and residents of town and district are invited to attend. The ceremony willbe performed by Mr.T. Sten, State President of the Returned Soldiers' League. Provision is being made for seating accommodation for elderly people in the foyer of the Hall while seats will be provided outside the entrance to the Hall for the general public.
Others taking part in the proceedings will be the Mayor (Mr. A.F. Noonan), chairman of the Road Board (Mr. W.H.Robinson),ministers of religion and the president or the local Sub-branch RSL. It was anticipated that the State and Convent School choirs would render items during the afternoon but advice has now been received by the Municipal Council from the Rev. Mother that owing to the laws of the church the Convent children would not be able to participate. The State School choir will now render 4 items.
