The plaque commemorates the association of the Parish with the Ivanhoe Grammar School.

In 1942 and 1943 during World War Two, the students of the Ivanhoe Grammar School were evacuated to Yea and worshipped at St Luke`s Church.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL MOVES MELBOURNE, Friday.— Ivanhoe Grammar School has gone to Yea, 30 miles from Melbourne. It is the first of the Victorian Associated Grammar Schools to be moved because of the war. The school buildings at Ivanhoe have been taken over by military authorities.

In 1942 - 1943, during the war years, Ivanhoe Grammar School was evacuated to the township of Yea as an attack on  Australia was feared.

This plaque was presented to St. Luke`s Yea on the 7th Feb. 1982 by the Old Boys of the School who worshipped in the  Church during those years.

This plaque marks their association with this Parish.
