Woolenook Bend Wood Camp
This cairn has been erected as a memorial of the Wood Camp which was established at this site on 7th May 1942.
Japanese internees worked from this camp to cut wood for pumping stations and river steamers.
The camp consisted of wood and iron buildings for the kitchens and mess areas, and tents for the sleeping quarters.
The camp was closed on 6th May 1945.
The cairn was financed by the District Council of Paringa with the permission of the Woods and Forests Department.
