The stained glass window commemorates members of the Parish who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two, and Corporal Don Winward who served in the 2nd / 3rd Company Australian Army Service Corps during World War Two.

The window was dedicated by Archbishop Booth on 7 May 1950.

The initial subscription to build the window was made by members of the 2nd / 3rd Company Australian Army Service Corps, In memory of their comrade Corporal (Don) L. Winward who was born at Separation, west of Mernda.  Much of the remaining cost was raised by the employees of the Myrl Shoe Company, local girls and women, who worked in portion of the Returned Service League (formerly Memorial) Hall.
