R.A.A.F. W.A.A.A.F.
No. 1 Engineering School, No 1 Embarkation Depot, & No. 2 Hospital, of the Royal Australian Air Force, occupied these showgrounds from March 1940 to October 1946. Other R.A.A.F. units formed here prior to fighting in the Pacific area. Many of their Airmen died in the battles.
