The Mersing Cross commemorates members of the 2nd / 18th Infantry Battalion who died in service or were killed in action during the Malayan Campaign at Mersing and Jemaluang during World War Two.

The Mersing Cross was erected by the side of the road (where the Battle of Jemaluang was fought) by Charles Wagner and the party who went to Mersing after the cessation of hostilies to de-louse the area which had been mined. They carved the inscription with a knife and filled it with tar from the road. It was brought from Singapore soon after the war.
