The gardens commemorate the men and women of the District who served in World War Two. The gardens are incorporated with the Centenary Gardens.

The Centenary and Memorial Gardens were designed, constructed, planted and cared for by Mr. B. H. (Bert) Aesche, Council Overseer, in 1946. Both gardens are on land originally leased from the S.A. Railways and then purchased by Council in 1987.

At a meeting of the Eudunda War Memorial Gardens Committee tonight it was decided that the plan of the proposed alterations and additions to the Memorial Gardens, as suggested by the Adelaide Director of Parks and Gardens, should be proceeded with as far as possible

The chairman of the committee (Mr. C. A. Mann) said that interest in the appeal had decreased because of dry summers and consequent water restrictions, followed by the untimely death of the secretary (Mr  G. E. Abbott).  He said that it was felt that the gardens should be established as a fitting testimony to the men and women of the district who served in the war, and particularly those who gave their lives. The £320 on hand was insufficient for the proposed work, and the meeting decided that ratepayers and citizens should be asked to subscribe to the funds.
