The plaque commemorates 50th anniversary of the sinking of the H.M.A.S. Kuttabul in Sydney Harbour by a Japanese Midget Submarine during World War Two and is in memory of those who were killed.
H.M.A.S. Kuttabul was a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) depot ship, and former Sydney harbour ferry. During the Japanese midget submarine attack on Sydney Harbour on 31 May 1942, H.M.A.S. Kuttabul was torpedoed and sunk, with 21 Commonwealth naval personnel aboard.

This plaque was unveiled on Sunday, 31st May 1992 by Mark Latham Mayor
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Kuttabul - 31st May 1942
Kuttabul was sunk in Sydney Harbour, at 2300 hours on 31st May 1942 during the Japanese midget submarine attack, with the loss of 21 lives.
This plaque was erected by the community of the City of Liverpool in memory of those sailors lost, as a result of this tragic incident.
