The rotunda was presented to the City of Unley by Rotary on their 60th anniversary and commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. 

The rotunda was erected in 1995 on the same site as the original rotunda which was built in 1921 to commemorate those from the district who lost their lives in the First World War.

The Unley Soldiers Memorial Rotunda and Bandstand was presented to the citizens of Unley by the Rotary Club of Unley on the occasion of the Club`s 60th anniversary and stands on the same site of the original rotunda built in 1921 in memory of the fallen in the Great War of 1914 - 1918
