Lone Pine Grove Print Page
A grove of Aleppo Pines was established in 2012 to recognise the sister cities relationships that Albany has forged with Gallipoli and Peronne as part of its military history and is a feature of the ANZAC Peace Park which commemorates those who served in World War One.
The grove of Aleppo Pines ( Pinus halapensis) are contained by a curved granite wall with a long timber integrated seat. Both the granite and hardwood timbers are local to Albany. This feature provides a major focus for the theme of Peace within the park and will recognise the sister cities Albany has forged with Gallipoli (Turkey) and Peronne (France) that are based on Albany's unique military history.
