Pine trees commemorate the Australian troops who fought at Gallipoli in 1915 during World War One.
The Gallipoli Campaign, also known as the Dardanelles Campaign took place on the Gallipoli peninsula in the Ottoman Empire (now Gelibolu in modern day Turkey) between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916, during World War One.

These trees, raised from seed collected from the Lone Pine region at Gallipoli where Australian troops fought in 1915, were planted by the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Alderman Frank Sleeman in the presence of the ANZAC Fountains Committee.
