The hall commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. The hall was officially opened by the Governor of Western Australia, Sir Francis Newdegate, on the 4th April 1923. 

A contract was let for the erection of the Soldiers Memorial Hall in January 1923. The foundation stone for the hall was laid by Mr M. Corbett on the 10th February 1923 who paid tribute to the boys who had left to fight in the war. 250 men enlisted from the district, 50 of whom lost their lives.
