The Peace Tree (Norfolk Pine) was planted to commemorate the Declaration of Peace on the 11th November 1918. There is a commemorative plaque and a seat erected by the Historical Society.

The armistice signed between the Allies of World War One and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War One, took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning—the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918.
