Long Plains Memorial HallPrint Page
The hall commemorates those who served in the World War One The foundation stone was placed on the 11th July 1922, and the hall was opened in 1923.
The war memorial for Long Plains and district has taken the form of a public hall. Plans and specifications were prepared by Messrs. Rogers and Jefferis and it was unanimously agreed to do the work by day labor. The opening celebrations were begun on Sunday, October 21, when a commemoration service was held, and despite the unpleasant weather, a record gathering resulted. Brigadier-General S. Price Weir D.S.O., V.D., unveiled a beautiful marble honor roll, and the photographs of four fallen soldiers.
