Hilltown War MemorialPrint Page
The monument commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.
Excellent weather conditions favored the unveiling of the Hilltown Soldiers' Memorial, which was held at Hilltown on Wednesday afternoon. Mr R D Nicholls, M.P , journeyed from Adelaide to perform the unveiling ceremony, and a large number of people were in attendance, including many visitors. The memorial is a very handsome one indeed, constructed of pinkish-grey marble, the design being that of an obelisk. A concrete foundation for the memorial was put in by several energetic residents. Owing to unforseen circumstances, a special fence and railing, to fence off the memorial, did not arrive, but a temporary fence was erected around it, and was decorated with bunting of all descriptions.
