Burra District Honour RollPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those from the District who served in World War One.
The Honour Roll was unveiled by the Governor of South Australia (Sir Tom Bridges) on the 19th March 1927. The honour roll is of handsome design in highly polished blackwood, with curved pillars and surmounted with a canopy under which is the Australian Coat of Arms. The roll bears 600 names including 100 who died. Returning to the front of the institute His Excellency, pulled a cord which drew the covering away, said, "To the glory of God and the undying memory of men of Burra and district who fought and died in the Great War, I unveil this honour roll."
