Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

St John`s War MemorialPrint Page
The reredos in the church commemorates former members of the church who died in service or were killed in action in World War One.
It consists of an English Oak screen behind the Altar that spans the wall. The panels either side of the centre panel contain a title and carved effigy of the AIF badge above the names of those who paid the supreme sacrifice from the parish.
Auburn, Sept 30. In order to perpetuate the memory of Ptes. G. Eddington, W. E. Isaacson, W. E. Millard, E. W. Millard, and D. Williams, church lads who gave their lives for their country, a handsome blackwood reredos has been erected in St. John's Church. This was dedicated by Archdeacon Bussell this evening in the presence of a large congregation. The service was sung by the rector, Rev. H. Giles. The Rev. S. J. Boyd (Clare) read the lessons, the sermon being preached by Rev. W. H. Johnson, of Prospect.
