The gates commemorate those who served in World War One.

The "Back to Malmsbury" celebrations which were commenced on Good Friday, were very successful. More than 900 former residents arrived by rail and numbers came by motor- car. Mr. Morley, M.L.A. unveiled the Soldiers' Memorial gates at the public gardens on Monday in the presence of a large gathering.
