The Diggers sculpture commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Great Ocean Road.
It commemorates the soldiers who built the Great Ocean Road as a memorial to their comrades who were killed in action or died in service during World War One.

The Diggers
This sculpture was unveiled by the Hon. Bruce Billson MP Minister for Veterans` Affairs on April 13th, 2007
In honour of the three thousand Australian returned soldiers and sailors of the First World War (1914 - 1918) who built the Great Ocean Road as a memorial to their fallen comrades.
This memorial was funded by the Geelong Community Foundation in association with Great Ocean Road Marketing Inc, Department of Veteran Affairs, Surf Coast Shire and Vic Roads.
