The monument commemorates those who served in World War One. It was unveiled by Major General ("Fighting Charlie") Cox, Commander of the 1st Australian Light Horse Brigade on Armistice Day 1922. It is a white marble statue of an Australian World War One soldier atop a granite plinth engraved with the names of service personnel.
A plaque was added in 1993 commemorating the Unknown Soldier and commemorating the 75th anniversary of Remembrance Day.
