The Recreation Ground commemorates those who served in World War One.

The opening carnival in aid of the Edwardstown Soldiers' Memorial Recreation Ground was held on Saturday on 20 acres acquired at a cost of £500, in a central position for Edwardstown, Ascot Park, and Marion, and within half a mile of the Edwardstown railway station. The original option was secured from Mr. K. C. Sanders, at Harcourt Gardens, as the result of a movement inaugurated about 18 months ago by Messrs. A, Brook, W. N. Wheaton, R. Sharp, and C.A. Morden. About £100 has been paid off the property, which, has been improved gratuitiously by a working bee. The ultimate aim is to provide a soldiers' memorial sports oval, a children's playground, and gardens.
