The church was erected as a war memorial to commemorate the men and women of St John`s Parish who served in World War One.

MOSS VALE, The Governor (Sir Phillip Game) has consented to set the corner stone of St. John's Memorial Church on June 18. The Church is being erected as a memorial to those who served in the Great War. The building now being erected is the first section of a new Church. The cost of this section will be approximately £3000, but to complete the transepts a further £2000 is needed.
