The memorial commemorates the men and women from Winchelsea and district who served in World War One.  Standing over 3.6 metres in height, the glass art panels feature imagery sourced from the Australian War Memorial and colour grades that unite them with the bluestone plinth - a locally sourced stone.

The memorial also commemorates the 64 Australians who received the Victoria Cross during World War One. The Victoria Cross is the highest award for acts of bravery in wartime and includes a tribute to Winchelsea’s Albert Jacka, the first Australian Victoria Cross recipient.  It also lists the names of those from the district who served in Jacka`s 14th Battalion.

Funding was received through the ANZAC Centenary Grants Program.
