The memorial commemorates the original Avenue of Honour which was planted in North and Nepean Roads in 1918 to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action from Brighton and Caulfield. 

The monument consists of three pillars which contain plaques listing those who served and stands in the gardens of Kamesburgh ANZAC Hostel. 

The Avenue of Honour on North and Nepean Roads was a joint collaboration between the Brighton and Caulfield Councils. The final planting in North Road took place on Anzac Day 1919.
