The monument commemorates the 85th anniversary of first ANZAC Day ceremony held in Queensland and those who di8ed in service or been killed in action in the various conflicts in whcih Australia has been involved.
The first observance of ANZAC Day in Queensland was on the first anniversary of the Gallipoli landings on 25 April 1916. It consisted on a number of events, including: church services in the morning, a marching parade of veterans and military personnel.
