The monument commemorates the 85th anniversary of first ANZAC Day ceremony held in Queensland and is in memory of those who gave their lives in defence of Australia.
The first observance of Anzac Day in Queensland was on the first anniversary of the Gallipoli landings on 25 April 1916. It consisted on a number of events, including: church services in the morning, a marching parade of veterans and military personnel.
