Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Colac Methodist Church Honour Roll Print Page
The honour roll commemorates those from the church who served in World War One. The roll was presented to the church by Mr. & Mrs. Parkes in memory of their son Artie, who was killed in action in August 1918.
The diamond jubilee of the Colac Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday, when three services, conducted by the President of the Conference, the Rev. H. Worrall, were held. The church was crowded on each occasion. The interior was prettily decorated, and the services were most interesting.
The new honour roll was unveiled during the afternoon service by the Rev. Henry Worrall. In the course of his address the rev. gentleman said that the service should be an historic one in the history of the church because of the unveiling of the honor roll on which were subscribed the names of those who had heard the bugle call of duty and had gone forth to serve their God and Empire. The rev. gentleman then unveiled the honor roll, which was presented to the church by Mr and Mrs F Parkes senr., in memory of Private E. A. Parkes ('Artie'), who was killed in action in France on August 9th, 1918. The donor chose a handsome one, made in blackwood and chaste in design, and occupies a prominent position in the church.
